Great mojitos! The atmosphere is beautiful and very relaxing. Service is a bit slow especially the wait for food when its busy. But waiters are overall very attentive and helpful.Highly recommend the stir fried fish with mango. The Pad Thai and Pad-see-ew are very good.Maki rolls had a bit too much rice for my liking, but the sushi flavours are brilliant.Pricing is moderate to expensive, but comparable to other places in the area.
A fantastic authentic Thai restaurant which offers great Sushi aswell. The view is stunning, the food is really and the staff really friendly. You can the people here love that their doing and do it with passion. Probably one the best place to see the sun set in Dar es Salam. It’s must visit place and the surrounding area is beautiful aswell.
The ambiance was great! Service was superb despite us coming on a busy Friday night. Our waiter was so attentive and I would definitely come back again!
My friend loves this place and the food is good. But they should tell their waiters to stop the practice of asking for tips from patrons especially when you ask to swipe your card.A tip is given as a discretion and only for stellar service rendered. It shouldnt be asked for.
Always a top address for waterfront dining in Dar es Salaam. Thai inspired food freshly prepared.... very friendly and attentativ staff!
Good food, pity of the amount of flies. Very good view, most go during sunset. Staff is friendly and good. Try the pork belly with Pak Choi.
This is one of my favorite places to hangout with my close friends; watching beautiful sunsets in Daresalaam on most of my travels to Tanzania . The food is a wide range of seafood; Thai and Japanese cuisine, and definitely fresh produce from the Indian Ocean. The staff are friendly and the ambiance is just cosy while holding a glass of wine; bubbly or a cocktail from their beverage selection. I I have explored their menu my favorite of all is the chili crab; salmon skins and chili paste fish be ready for some spicy food when you order this.... Afew photos from my experience definitely recommend this :-)
Thai kani is located inside the Slipway complex, right on the waters edge. The outdoor area has fantastic views over the bay, and is shaded with beautiful trees. The layout is modern and inviting. The food and service though do not match they expectations created by such a beautiful background. The food is not Asian enough, and the quality unpredictable. The service is still quite amateurish and the waitress was hanging around at the time of payment, obviously expecting a tip.One bad point was that we were pestered with flies, and the staff did not come with any help or suggestion to keep them from eating our food. A candle or spray would have been an appreciated gesture.I would probably go back there for a sundowner, on account of the location.......
One of the more higher end places to eat in Dar. Been a few times now and the food is terrific. Authentic Asian food, very good portions and at sunset this place has stunning views. Its definitely on the pricer spectrumof restaurants but you dont mind that every now and then, especially when you know youre being served quality. The last time we went the service was a little ropey but the manager was kind enough to whack in a few extra dishes which always goes down well (always keep your customers happy guys!).
Nice place for Sushi on the waterfront. Tables/chairs are small and tightly squeezed all together.
Food is good but the service is bad ..and dirty..its wss extremely hot day so we wanted to sit indoors and it was too dirty plus hot we asked to on AC and the waitress said its not working ..only when I asked for the manager they on it
Visited on a saturday evening. They had two to three tables available only. The service of the manager was upto the point... The waiter serving us however was not as much attentive. The food was delicious and the serving is generous...Definitely going back there again for the food..Point of imporvement - the tables are too small hence felt congested when the food arrived. However that shouldnt stop you from trying this place out...
The sushi was really good, however the porkbelly was really though and below average compared with other restaurants. The ocean view is really nice and it a nice place for eating with kids. They have a playground. They have happy hour from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. however the service is a little bit slow. So if you order a cocktail at 6:45, it doesn’t count as a happy hour drink. ;)
Good ambience and amazing seafood. A good quiet chilled place to catch up with family and friends over a drink in the evening.
LOVE IT! It has become my favorite restaurant in Dar! Every time I come the food is delicious! The Sushi is the best I’ve had in a long time, the Pad Thai is so tasty and the fish has exactly the right amount of spices! Waiters are super nice and really quick and the cocktails are excellent though not expensive. Win-win! First class restaurant! Not to forget, location is tip top too right by the water.
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent location. Nothing more to say
Fantastic food, fabulous setting and Good service! Don’t miss when in Dar!
Amazing location overlooking the sunset bay of dar es salaam. Had a great experience with friends, with good service and yummy food. The sushi is one of the best in town and being one of the only true Thai restaurants in town, this makes it a lovely place for a unique experience in the heart of Dar es Salaam.
I’ve learnt to write and read reviews! Two great people always make our experience great at this place. The manager Chris and Francis offer service with such great care. The food is delicious and the portions are satisfactory. The band that plays on Friday is great as well. Having that so many places in Dar have great music and food, the service and kindness of the manager and his team make this a venue of choice every Friday. Thanks and Kudos to them
The food is extremely good, and you will get served by the most enthusiastic waiters. One of the most amazing thing about the location is the whole family and home-like feeling, you feel settled and ready to have fun with all the services the restaurant has to offer. I definitely recommend it for couples and families and in our case a friends reunion. You will get more than you ask for; For sure, check this place out and enjoy.
Their sushi is really delicious. The service is very fast and nice. The environment is really beautiful and clean.
Great food, clean and smart with a beautiful water view and scenery. Staff is polite and professional. I will definitely visit again. Thumbs 👍🏾
The food taste very bad... It was washing soap in the sallad... Now 3 persons stomach is totally crashing
Good food, good service and beautiful view.
Right off the water. Perfect for a sunset dinner! Nice patio area. Service was good. Ordered Fried rice with chicken and crispy tuna roll and mango sticky rice for dessert. Passion fruit Mojito-very good. Food was all tasty and presented well. Def going back again.
Thai Kanis location is absolutely gorgeous. Sun downer drinks here are amazing. We opted to visit Thai Kani last night for Dinner. The ambience is always so pleasant. Nice music, refreshing drinks. Unfortunately, we werent too pleased with the food. It was bland, portions have been reduced and just not what we usually have there. Service was also quite slow but considering it was a busy Saturday night, its understandable.Im definitely willing to give it another chance and hope the food is better
Not really Thai. Nice location, average food
Great place for sunset. Craft beer. Food is quite good.
Lovely ambience and good service but their non-fish and halal options are very scarce and overly expensive on the menu,As a Muslim whos allergic to seafood, Im looking at the menu and wondering what am I going to be able to eat here thats decently priced?
Very nice location and good food. evenings are the best times to start there with seeing the sunset at its best. just a bit expensive
The Manager there tends to treat POC with disdain and elects to favor white patrons more. Avoid going at all cost unless you endorse such behavior. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area with much better service and the same views. Have an awesome whole same day.
If youre up for something different this is definitely the spot for you. A lot of the expat spots tend to cater to your typical western cuisine. Pretty good for the seafood since theyre on the coast. Alright patio and the prices arent that cheap (especially for the sushi - western prices for 8 pieces of sushi). Otherwise, might suggest walking down the way to the other waterfront restaurants for something a bit nicer and cheaper.
Very deceiving Specials deal written on the chalkboard outside... makes it look like 3 course meal is 40,000....So after ordering the deal and wondering where the other 2 courses are we were told “Starter is 40,000,Main is 38,000 and dessert is 15,000.....Stay away from this scam restaurant.
Great setting by the water. Slow service when busy. Menu includes a range of Asian influenced dishes, but dont go expecting classic Thai food - there is not much resemblance.
Awesome place for both brunch and dinning.. Great sea view and best place for enjoying the sunset, Guys this place is peace and lovely! its just soo good that words are not enough to describe the feeling.. ❤🌴They have outdoor sitting and garden around, the staff is professional and service is great!Had great time being here 🍁
Poor Service waited 1:30hours for my food, No, remorse from the manager or waiter who treated us badly during the mishap managed the situation terribly, I will admit the food is tasty but I woke up feeling sick from the night before. For the price that you pay the service is way below the standard our expect. Its sad that I had such a poor dinning experience on the back drop of a beautiful shore coastline that is slipway.
Nice food in a great location
Good food, ambiance is perfect so is the view of the ocean....Staff is a bit shaky but we can work with that still. Awesome place and have always had a splendid time at Thai Kani.
Great food. But the masks are torture on the staff. Majority of clients dont wear them.
This restaurant has a very good view and a solid bar selection. The bartender can make a decent cocktail. The food is a bit expensive for the area but is well made. The sushi is very good and the fish is fresh.
Gosh didn’t take pictures but when I expect my own food which is Japanese, I cannot give five stars. Some sashimi is too hard to chew like there are so many strings, the rice is too much sticky that you can’t separate the sashimi and rice with chopsticks... And bento is not bento! I mean things inside in bento are too boring and half of them are cucumbers lol. Customer service is not that impressive as well. Waiters are too far just standing while we need their service.
Terrible service! My friends went to eat and with all the protesting going on,the owner went over to tell my friends that they shouldnt talk about racism because it makes others uncomfortable. Im glad the owner explained which side shes on never ever will I go there again.
If you are looking for good sushi and atmosphere, then this is the place to go. Because of the afore mentioned reason, I give it two stars. However, nothing else on their menu is any good. I have been many times and every time when people from my group order food other than Sushi, they always feel disappointed. The food is way over priced and most of their Thai food tastes like it was made in a cafeteria. The vegetables for the past three times have tasted frozen and over cooked. Sometimes you go and you get a lot of nice big jumbo shrimp and then other times you go, there is almost no shrimp to be seen. The side order of rice is always like half of a small bowl. If you feel like spending about 30,000 TZS for a mediocre meal, be my guest. However, just about every other Thai restaurant has better Thai food.
Multiple visits. Good food, oceanfront, fab outdoor space, quick service, charming servers (look out for Thomas), stays opens later than most places. A bit pricier than the typical Asian joint in Dar, but it is a lovely spot for an evening out.One caveat: it is on a promenade with other restaurants, so the area gets packed - especially on weekends. Not for those who seek quiet.
Nice place, nice food and craft 🍺
The food is not bad. The best thing about it would have to be its location. The view is beautiful. The service is very slow. My sister and I waited for over an hour. I got my food first and had to wait another 30 minutes or so, for my sisters food to come.
Had a really bad experience with the sushi at this place. Considering the price you would expect the fish to be fresh and tender. The pieces were poorly sliced and the fish was difficult to chew. We got a 20 % discount when we complained and the service was good.
Amaizing food, the service was super. You get value for your money.
Lovely sunset, really good food at reasonable prices with realy friendly service.
Food was OK, a bit too spicy. Fair service and not too bad price wise for Masaki. The flies outside were annoying and we had to move in.Its in the shopping center which occasionally has security issues: US embassy sent out a security notice about al shabaab for there once.
Great location and food. Service is awesome. Highly recommend.
The food is just okay, and like the other reviewer said it is more of a fast food style Thai food place. The restaurant inside has a strong smell of fish sauce. Had the papaya salad and it was drenched in fish sauce.
First of all please dont waste your money here go to Waterfron Restaurant next door! We had meals twice here, once when it was quiet and once during busy dinner hours. On both occasions we were made to wait nearly 30 mins for the food and completely ignored by staff, who are poorly trained compared to other restaurants in Dar es Salaam. They did not seem to care about the customer and on both instances when we requested mild meals, we received extremely spicy meals without the flavour that is typical of Thai foodHowever the worst part of our experience was that we were charged for a completely different meal which was 12,000 shillings more expensive. When we raised the issue with staff we were told that the machine is unable to change the price and I will have to personally pay for your meal. Please so not start an argument and can you pay the 12,000 difference. We would appreciate it.Ive travelled extensively in Asia, Africa and Australia and never have I heard this sort of thinly veiled excuse for cheating customers. Thank you for leaving a bitter aftertaste to an otherwise enjoyable holiday...
One of our favorite restaurants in Dar. We love their Pad Thai and Spring Rolls. Its got nice music and a pleasant atmosphere and overlooks the bay.
The ocean view is great.Nice spot for kids and the entire family.Plenty of other options too very as they are close to it.The food is good.
If you are a first-time comer in Dar es Salaam and want to have a lovely evening dinner with the view of the sunset, then you should definitely go to Thai Kani. The employees are friendly and welcoming, and I always enjoy my time there. Moreover, the food is fantastic, quite mouth-watering by the thought it; its making me hungry now.
Service was alright but the ramin noodles were disappointing. Small portion, very little noodles , not even half a egg ..it was just bad. Coming from Canada it dosent compare.
Been there 3 times. I find the food just okay though, really nothing special. Pleasant place and good service. Beautiful view to the Msasani Bay.
Just saw sunrise and sunset, ocean view
Is a lovely place by the seaside with a great scenery and by night it is a bit cooler and breezy. Perfect for two spot for a date night. Affordable prices for drinks as well as for their delicious meals. It is inside Slipway.
We have tried TomYam soup, but asked for not so spicy one. It was very tasty and the portion was big. All this was accompanied by live music.
Very poor service, order your food and wait for at least 2 hrs for it to come. The manger gave us lame excuses and was not able to manage restraunt staff.Food was average. The service was super slow and the wait was agonizing. We are definitely not going back. The ratings given by others is definitely overrated.
If your in love with our-door dining with views from the beach, beautiful sunset going down & fresh atmosphere. This is the place. I never get tired coming to this beautiful restaurant.
The menu doesnt taste as Asian as implied, and theres quite little value for your money. The drinks and breeze are nice though
Excellent Thai & Japanese food in the bay with beautiful surroundings and outstanding sunsets. The area has play groynd, shops and other restaurants. Excellent place for the evening dinner.
😍 Best Thai food, seafood, sushi in town. With an additional bonus of the gorgeous view of the ocean. Also good for sundowners and happy hour!
A nice place to be with family and friends...
