Nice hotel among similar price-quality in Dar Es Salaam: staff is very good and responsive food is good, breakfasts - for me is more than enough, rooms are clean and furniture is new. In general the place is very well kept, a lot european guests, wi-fi is great too. I wish all the best to this place!

Excellent, clean rooms equipped with air-conditioning and a ceiling fan, but WiFi connectivity is really poor. This hotel also has great view of the city from the last floor terrace.

Bedrooms are big and comfortable, clean and very good conditions! Staff is nice! The Breakfast and the restaurant area are ok but could be better! The Breakfast doesnt have many options of food and not very good quality!

One of the best hotel in capital city, best service in terms of food and beverage service, house keeping , front office , kitchen. Staff are amazing, well experienced, and polite. Its a standard star category hotel. What I get from the staff, in one word Is EXCELLENT SERVICE.

Pros: Air conditioning, clean, has elevators, continental breakfast, blackout curtainsCons: Small room, lumpy pillows and bed, noisy busy street, tv satellite didnt work, small lobby (cant really hang out there), terrible free parking garage (fits 3-4 cars and you have to go down a steep angle to get there and can be trapped in by other cars so we paid for expensive parking across the street)

On the one hand, the room size, build quality, furnishings, cleanliness, service, price, and rooftop views are all good. On the other hand, the hotel and the adjacent buildings are just a few meters apart and many rooms lack privacy and natural light. Traffic noise from nearby Uhuru Street is always present. General maintenance could be a little better. The WiFi system needs a massive upgrade. Still, Chelsea Hotel beats most of the competition in this price range.

Its a good place to stay over however its a bit far from the center. The Zanzibar ferry is about 1 mile away from the hotel and there are some supermarkets and street restaurants close to it. The rooms are so tidy and comfortable. Air condition makes it even more tremendous.

Loved the experience, big airy rooms with working AC, good ambience, nice food and wonderful manager Mr. Nidhin.Only downsides food order takes very long in the evening and hot shower runs out of hot water in a very short time.Overall very nice place at the $40-50 range

For the price per night Chelsea is an overall decent place to stay, its location is great for walking to various eating/shopping areas in DAR and it is one of the more modern hotels in the area. Its rooms are quite clean, although our bathroom did have an odd sewer smell coming from a drain hole next to the toilet. One other issue that came up was that upon arrival we were told they were overbooked, so they upgraded us to a deluxe suite but we were told wed have to move into another room in 2 days. Upon checking out, we heard a similar situation arise with another group of guests, but it seems as though they were downgraded instead of upgraded... Their tendency to overbook seems to be a recurring problem, which can be worrisome for future guests. However, breakfast was very good and they changed up the menu everyday which was also refreshing! Chelsea staff were also helpful in advising where to eat/visit in DAR and also allowed us to keep our luggage at the hotel storage room for 1+ week, and we had no issues with getting our luggage back and repacking in the hotel lobby before leaving for the airport.

The room is dark and has a strange smell, but it is spacious. At night there is no hot water in the shower and they do not have adapters for sockets. They are not hospitable and do not try to help clients. Be careful, we tried to charge again with the city tax! Strong point: the position of the hotel.

3 stars but it is quite nice place to stay. Near to the Airport. The staff are smiley and warm blood and friendly. If you are looking for Indian foods you are lucky. But there could be sleepers and hair dryer and small refrigerator.

Chelsea Hotel is such a great place to stay when youre in Dar es Salaam. The service is outstanding and the restaurant is superb. The rooms are so clean and refreshing. I absolutely recommend this hotel.

Stayed at Chelsea hotel for 3days. Easy checkin and they allowed late checkout. Room was spacious, clean and modern. Air conditioning worked beautiful. Centrally located although can get quite loud. Great value for price. Their restaurant also serves delicious food! Highly recommend and would stay again.

Our family of 4 stayed at the Chelsea Hotel in Dar for a swim gala. Thank goodness we did! We all had a restful night, and the staff accommodated our early breakfast needs (had to be at pool by 6:30 a.m.) by sending us fruit and breakfast sandwiches the night before.We stayed in their 2 bedroom suite that had a kitchenette with fridge, kettle, tea and coffee, microwave, plates etc. Beds and pillows were fluffy, bathrooms spotless, towels were clean and crisp, and the air conditioning worked! You cant take these things for granted... unless you stay at the Hyatt. (But were not at the Hyatt because we wont pay those prices.)This has definitely become our home in Dar as its close to the Ferry (where you can take a 1.5 hr ride to Zanzibar).Note: Dont forget to bring basic toiletries like shampoo or lotion. This is not something you will commonly find in Tanzanian hotels.

How can I even begin to describe my stay here. Chelsea Hotel has really changed the game when it comes to accommodation with a wide array of options to chose from. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment with a small kitchen that was just spectacular. The finishing touches of earth tones, brightly coloured paintings and thoughtfulness of the hotel could be felt right from the reception, up the stairways and into the rooms. From cleanliness, food, service, price and location, Chelsea Hotel has out done themselves.

The manager is absolutely rude and disrespectful.An incident occurred whereby the ladies at the reception informed me that theRe was no precise check out time for them. The manager then informed me that since the check out was delayed i was too pay for an extra day. I asked him to check the camera for proof that i was given the wrong information by the receptionist and he absolutely disregarded what i said and refused to check them and proceeded to charge me an extra night.

Hotel it self is nice and clean for its price.The problem became when we wanted some personal approach. It started when we arrived at 5am and asked for early check-in. First we had to wait until 6 or the price for the whole day. It should be for a half of the price after 6 oclock. But when I came to ask for a room at 6 receptionist said that the room is not ready and that it will take 2-3 hours to clean it. So when I tried to come after a while receptionist said that the room will be ready at 9am. Sir... I dont want to pay half of the day for two hours. Especially when you let me wait 4 hours for it! So when you offered me deluxe room for extra charge + half of the price I was not satisfied at all. At 8 receptionist changed and nice young lady just called manager and offered us no extra charge for early check-in just to pay for deluxe room. There was still not one large bed but hey... We had a room finally.Second thing was when we tried to order breakfast because we had to take a bus to Arusha early in the morning (last bus to Arusha by Kilimanjaro express btw) and they said that they cant offer us package that early and even refund money for it. So just count with it.So when I summarize it. Nice hotel for a nice price. Just do not expect some extra personal approach :-)

This place is value for money, if you don’t have much to go around. Customer service is good and the breakfast can improve. These pictures are from the rooftop of the Hotel. If you need a place to over night, this is the place for you.

One of the worst hotel no hospitality there is a stubborn and he dont care for customer his name is Nadun. One of the worst hotel person I have ever met.He is so racist and if you request for something from him he thought that he is the owner of the hotel and start showing attitude to customer.Chelsea please change your accountant Nadun he is good for nothing a big zero you will not get customer if stays there.

All are well enough except the service from Fri T desk, also the hotel must pro use a slipper for toilet to not get infected, because hundreds are in and out, and last is must provide stickers for donot disturb etc

Lovely place to stay in Dar thats reasonably priced and provides great value for your money. Amazing location with proximity to many necessary amenities. I could count about five banks within 100 ft of the hotel, including KCB Bank, Equity, DTB. Kariakoo market is only about 5 minutes from the hotel. Many food street vendors right outside. Incredible working AC which is a big deal with Dar weather :) Lovely customer service too! All the staff are very friendly and professional. I highly recommend the place.

Ut has nasty rules. If you pay for single no one is allowed in the room.even for 1hr or 30min. And if u want to pay for your guest to chack in on the same room is half the price of another room.double......

Checked in on 25-12-2018. With 3 kids . My child had a nose bleed at night and one drop stained the bedsheet Mark you one drop!!!. On checking out we were made to pay $100. For one stain . Poor customer service and dirty bedsheets. The receptionist and manager could not listen to our plea. Breakfast was terrible.
