Great experience. We got to see flamingos just before they migrated. We also saw crocodiles and hippos galore during the boat ride along wami river.Baboons and warthogs are also there in plenty. We were lucky to sight a few giraffes but not in luck to sight elephants or lions. The tour guide was quite helpful and overall we had a good experience

Passed through the Saadani National Park on my way to and from a remote resort near Pangani village. We saw giraffes, rabbits, warthogs, deers, duikers, elephants, monkeys and a variety of birds walking about in their natural habitats without fear. Even the monkeys were roaming unhindered through human settlements. We (2 adults and 3 kids) had to pay both ways for using the road through the park. Even the kids, who slept throughout the journey were made to pay.

Located in the centre of the historic triangle of Bagamoyo, Pangani and Zanzibar, Saadani National Park covers 1100km square. It is the only wildlife sanctuary in Tanzania bordering the sea. The climate is coastal, hot and humid. It offers a unique combination of both marine and mainland flora and fauna in a culturally fascinating setting. About 30 species of larger mammals are present as well as numerous reptiles and birds. Besides many species of fish (over 40), green turtles, humpback whales and dolphins occur in the ocean nearby.

It is the nearest park from dar es salaam. Which makes it a weekend gateaway for anyone who loves wildlife. The roads are improved and in summer could get there easily. Main attraction would be the ocean which meets the river hence hippos and crocodiles. Though It saddens me that quite a few animals are visible in Sadaani NP now, This was my 4th visit to the park, and the first 2 times I came the park was filled with giraffes, and bucks. They should really take a step to do something about loosing animals.

The trip was great in every level! I had an amazing company of friends and made acquaintances. We didnt get to see many animals but thats okay b/c our guide told us beforehand that we might not.But the animals were not even the highlight of our trip! We had a bonfire, sang karaoke, went to see the sea salt, Wami river, got some great pictures and on top of that got to sleep in a tent where you can hear the ocean!πŸ•πŸŒŠP.S. Saadani National Park is the only park in East Africa that the ocean meets with the park so I felt special being there hehe

Its nice place to spend one day or two but you shouldnt expect too much. Animals dont show during daytime. They get active night-time but the gate of the park get closed at 6 p.m. Its rather impossible to see wild cats. During our trip we have seen some giraffes, antelopes and buffalo. Nor lions neither leopards or elephants were seen. Be carefull when you negotiate the price. At the end of the trip we were surprisingly told by our guide that he is not employed and his is not given any money from the park. That was really surprising especially that he had park uniform and he was earlier processing our tickets in the official park tourist office. I think that there are much better places to see in Tanzania but they are away from Dar Es Salaam.

When we got to the main gate they told us we have to go inside to reception to get information on prices. When we reach reception they told us we have to pay as we are already inside. argued for 1 hour and was still forced to pay. When wanted to pay they made us wait another hour because their system was down when we said we dont even have time to go around they still forced us to wait and pay.... We could only spend 1 hour inside the park as the time had already gone. We barely saw any animal. Its such a shame to treat tourist like this and take their money forcefully after wasting their time. SHAME!!

This park can give you quietness and wild life are rare to see if youre lucky you might spot a giraffe and few birds. But this park has three hotels which pretty far and the road which takes you through one of the hotel are very rough only four wheel drive is best recommended on those roads.

Saadani was not far in distance, but we had to go about 40km down a very bumpy track to get to the park entrance. This took about 1.5-2 hours and was a really unpleasant experience. Driving around the mixed grassland and forest of the park, looking out through the roof of the car, was a nice experience. I saw giraffe and some antelope, baboons, wart hog and African eagle, though most of the time there was no wildlife to see. I did a boat safari and saw hippos and crocodiles, and also stopped by the beach for a quick swim. Because of the terrible access road to the park, I could not recommend this trip.

If you look for game, go somewhere else. Information given at the gate and the tourist centre is very limited. Takes about 30 min to pay the park fees due to bad internet connection. A lot of trash and plastic bottles along the roads. Good short cut though (if the roads are dry) if you drive between Dar and Pangani.

Nice park, i only did a day drive as well as the boat safari. You really need to plan to be here more than one day if you want to see most of the different kind of animalsbecause it is easier for them to hide here than the other parks. We saw lots of animals when we went except we didnt see any lions. We saw elephants, lots of giraffes and hippos, all kind of deer type animals and buffalos and birds. This park is not as comercialized as other parks in TZ. Irs unique in that it has more wooded areas and is situated along both a river as well as the indian ocean. It was neat seeing hippos up close on the boat safari.

Park location and beauty was great. But.....checking in at central headquarters was very slow. Cost for camping was ridiculous $60 for one night is pretty costly for camping with our own equipment. And, it just feels like the park needs a little love. Upgrades, better picnic benches, cutting some high weeds around public areas. Just some extra tlc(tender loving care) and tax money needs sent their way! The North gate entrance people were very nice. And the roads to get in and out of the park were some of the worst in northern Tanzania safari areas...okay the worst. Similar to road from Bagamayo to Dar. Crazy potholes! Man eating potholes.

Worst park ever, DO NOT VISIT! I have visited more than 50 National Parks all over the world (just check my local guide status) and this is the worst of all! Make sure you sit down before you continue reading:- horrible roads, not even dirt roads..- insane high price, for nothing- not English speaking staff (except for 1 at North exit gate)- wildlife sucks, accept in the village (= inside the park...)... How do you think this got this way?! Nothing wild life!- Staff = absolute d*ckheads- even if you just wanna go through, you will pay for yourself, the car, the driver and Co pilot + 18% (eighteen, yes you are reading it correctly) tax!!!

Map shown by Google is a longer route from Dar es Salaam. Short route is to go to Bagamoyo. Before reaching Bagamoyo, turn left on Msata road. Before reaching Msata, turn right to Saadani National Park. There is a big board on the Msata Road. From this point, it is 44 kms to Gate of park , which is known as Gama gate. The defining point is that just as you enter the gate, you cross an iron bridge having wooden batons.
