The Amani tour was a complete disappointment for us. We paid a total of 14,000 USD for the 13-day tour covering Kenya and Tanzania, and the 6 days of the trip in Zanzibar was a nightmare. The accommodation allocated to us was in the middle of the village, an extremely old, neglected and dirty place. Although we bought an all-inclusive tour, we paid transportation and other expenses out of our pocket. We were not even allocated a guide or a vehicle.Vivien took a very reckless attitude, she did not even return to messages or calls. We even went to the airport with our own means. Please do not choose this tour company, there are tour companies that provide much better conditions for the money you pay.The comments written here are people Vivien knows and they are not really tourists. One is the local guide working with Vivien anyway. It was a very bad experience for us. It was the worst holiday of our lives.

I had a two week adventure in Tanzania and Amani Afrika did an incredible job helping me and my two friends organize what we all agree was a trip of a lifetime. I will recommend this company to anyone I know going to Tanzania. Vivienne and Godwin not only run a tour company but they also help give back to their own community by helping rebuild a local school. I am happy we decided to use a local African tour and one that I know is making a difference and giving back. I can’t explain how amazing our trip was. Not only did they schedule something for us to do everyday but we had transportation to and from all of these places by the nicest drivers (Frankie and Wilson). I will never forget these people. We had asked to do some volunteer work, experience the culture plus a safari and Vivienne and Godwin went above and beyond to make this happen for us. You really do get your moneys worth using this tour company.

Weve just returned from a 50 day trip to Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania that went seamlessly thanks in large part to the great organizational skills of Amani Africa. The driver/guides supplied, the accommodations provided and the safari and cultural experiences we undertook at their recommendations were all delivered as promised. We always felt safe and well taken care of. We do not hesitate in recommending Amani Africa for anyone planning a trip to the eastern part of Africa.

Went on a 5 day safari through the Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro crater. It was the highlight not just of this trip but the best thing Ive ever done while travelling. I can not recommend this enough!! And the tour company really does matter, some part of what you see us luck but a lit of it comes down to driver skill and Frankie of Amani Afrika seemed to legitamately be the best out there. Other visitors from around the world who were in the park on the same day were blown away at our pictures/stories/experiences. Five days was the perfect length of trip and the food was excellent. If youre worried about budget these prices were very reasonable and I recommend saving by camping instead of going with a different less reputable tour company. I really wish I could give more than 5 stars!!

Truly exceptional! Do not go up Kilimanjaro with anyone else! Our guides Paulo, Nas and Abel were absolutely fantastic as well as the cook Richard and the porters. Without this fantastic team, we would never ever have made it to the top. Everything about our experience with Amani Afrika was seamless and executed to a very high level of professionalism from the original planning all the way down to the airport drop off. I cannot recommend this company enough! We wish you all the best and hope to be back soon!

We have never felt more well taken care of on any trip as much as this one. Goodwin and Vivian absolutely amazing and truly care about the people they are organising trips for. When we first started looking for companies to help us with our travels, we found that they either tried to raise our budget by almost double or just didnt really have a friendly persona. The moment we got in touch with Goodwin and Vivian, we knew right away that these were the people we wanted to go with because of their kindness and eagerness to help us plan our honeymoon within our budget. Once we had chosen them, my wife and I were so eager that we constantly sent a vast amount of emails with questions about our upcoming trip, and Vivian always responded promptly and answered any question we had in detail. We have never been with a travel company that was this accommodating and comforting when planning a trip. Once we arrived in Arusha, our driver was waiting with a big smile and then proceeded to take us to our hotel, where Vivian and Goodwin were waiting to greet us. (Keep in mind our flight was delayed and it was late at night, but they waited just to make sure we got in ok.) We were told by the hotel that they had upgraded our room because it was our honeymoon, which was a common occurrence on this trip since Vivian and Goodwin had told all of the hotels of our recent marriage. The next day we headed off on our adventure. We spent a lot of time in the cars on safari with our guides, so it really helped that they were extremely personable. Gerald and Wilson were the best guides we could hope for. They always made sure that we were ok, and if we wanted to stop at anytime it was no problem to them. They also knew such an amazing amount of information about the different types of animals that lived in the area, and were able to know where the best places to find the animals would be. Leaving them at the end, felt like we were leaving friends that we were on an adventure with. When we finally returned after spending 10 nights on what is now the best trip of our lives, there were Vivian and Goodwin waiting at our hotel for us to make sure we had a great trip and hear all about our experience. Although I have tried, words can not express how truly grateful my wife and I are for all the care and work they put in to make our honeymoon so memorable. In the beginning, we said that this would be a once in a lifetime trip, but after our experience, we want to return as soon as possible. And you can bet that we will be contacting Goodwin and Vivian for our next excursion.I sincerely recommend them to anyone looking for the trip of a lifetime!

If I could give Amani Afrika and its owners, Godwin and Vivian, 5-½ stars, I would. We recently returned from a fabulous trip to Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda, all arranged through them. We spent several nights each in two of Tanzania’s best game parks (Ngorongoro, Serengeti), then 4 nights on the beach in Zanzibar, and finished with a tour to see the chimps in Uganda and the gorillas in Rwanda. Everything was planned and executed perfectly. Not only that, but we had a car and driver/guide to ourselves for the whole time. The lodgings were first rate (check out Essque Zalu in Zanzibar, for example). Our driver/guides were local natives and were extremely knowledgeable and personable. We couldn’t be happier with our choice of tour company, and we got it all for about ½ the price of a commercial tour group. I should also mention that Vivian is a terrific communicator and went above and beyond to see that our every need was met.

After submitting some simple information Vivian responded with unmatched detail and clarity about what she envisioned for our dream vacation. The plan was originally for three weeks in Tanzania for Safari but because of what I can only attribute to Vivians expertise in realizing our dream we were able to build a trip that far surpassed what we could have ever imagined. It’s good to have dreams about what you want. Vivian turns those dreams into a reality you’ll never forget. The experience was seamless from our first email to landing at Kilimanjaro airport to our departure from Zanzibar. Perfect. We exchanged 100 emails with Vivian, from novice questions to complex modifications on dates of travel. We asked a lot of questions about small details about one camp over the next. She always responded extremely fast with patient, detailed explanations on her recommendations. Also, she was more than willing to accommodate our extravagant, sometimes unnecessary requests. She even called us at a very late hour for her, from Tanzania, to accommodate our schedule when planning. Our tour group was a group of six friends and we stayed at some of the nicest luxury “tented” accommodations in Tanzania. She made sure that not only would we be satisfied with the accommodations and amenities but with the management that runs the camps. Quality is clearly a top priority for Amani. It’s reassuring to have a local operator who has relationships with the camps where you’ll be staying. How else can you be sure that the camp you’ll be at for four nights has an excellent happy chef? What about hot showers and Wi-Fi? You can’t go to a restaurant if you don’t like the food. There is no Starbucks if the WiFi goes down. When we arrived at Kilimanjaro, Wilson our guide, was waiting with a friendly smile! One of the best parts of our trip was having a guide who was so friendly, patient and knowledgable. His detailed understanding of the plants and animals was more than impressive. It was kind of funny actually. I’d ask a simple question about a random tree and he’d give such a detailed explanation I felt I was an arborist when he stopped talking. He did this with everything from trees and animals to random facts about the Secretary Bird and how white people got it’s name wrong. One of the most important parts about your Safari is having an expert guide. I can’t put enough emphasis on this. I didn’t think about it before, but his knowledge of the unmapped and unnamed endless dirt roads was comforting. We really lucked out with Wilson. This guy is amazing at his job, from spotting animals on the horizon, to safely driving us across a major portion of northern Tanzania. It’s fun to be with someone who loves what they do for a living. Thanks for keeping us safe Wilson!~Extra note ~ Originally, I didn’t want to include this in the review but it’s important you understand the generosity of Amani. Not only are they a full service custom agency that caters to your every desire, but they love their country. Some of the money you give them will go directly to help the local school children. When we were there they had recently completed building desks for a local school. How awesome it that? Further, some of the people that made the desks are part of the local deaf community. So, not only are they supporting the children but giving work to those who may be underemployed. The story gets better. Maybe this info is on their website, I haven’t looked. They are also training their desk builders to help with Mt. Kilimanjaro hikes. I never thought about it, but someone who is deaf has better skills at watching people and observing if they may need extra help. Genius really. We were blessed to have found Amani Afrika.
