Great steak dinner after a long 8 day climb of Kilimanjaro. The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious, and the staff was beyond friendly.

I will be here everytime i visit Arusha….Improve: ensure that there is always a waiter focusing on a given side. Getting a waiter to your table again after main order delievered might be a challenge.

Gluten Free and Vegan and so much more. Met at the entrance by both Maria the hostess and Peter our waiter we were offered an indoor or outdoor patio seating. Our driver instructed them to make sure a taxi was arranged for the end of the meal.Quickly seated by Peter in wonderful English conversation. We proceeded to go through a rather well developed menu. We decided to ask Peter about the pizza size and the telly amazing salad options for dinner. He assured us that we had ordered enough in the salad and loaded pizza. He suggested that the food proportions were large but if we still had room we could enjoy a lovely dessert. He was correct. We watched our pizza being built by hand and cooked in a wood stove. The salad came at the same time and so began a wonderful culinary experience. Maria checked in at each table to make sure everyone was happy. We certainly were. Met people at next table that return every year and thoroughly enjoy the food and ambiance every year.Our recommendation from Green Garden Hostel after our Kilimanjaro Summit hit the mark. Staff and service was sparkling wonderful. Food and proportions exceeded our expectations. We will return at least one more time prior to leaving.

Super nice and cozy setting in a lush garden. The people were very friendly, Maria was our host and she was very nice. Tasty kebab tandoori and hamburger, would highly recommend!

We had a great time there. Went for our date dinner night and I must say the the atmosphere is very romantic. It’s a big space with lots of tables inside and outside. For cold evenings they bring the clay chimneys so you can still enjoy sitting out.The prices were fair. Margarita (15.000tzs/ $6.5) was delicious and quite big size (8 pieces) We also took Moussaka (21.000tzn / $9) which was not the best one I had but was tasty and came along with small salad and fries + local craft beers “Twga” (7000/ $3 per glass)The staff was attentive 👌🏼Nice surprise in Arusha,great experience.

Did I miss something? The chicken on the bone was dry, salmon was incinerated. The cut up chicken was good but 1/3 doesn’t really cut it 😅

Really nice ambience in the heart of Arusha. Walkable distance from the clock tower roundabout.Slightly long wait for the food, perhaps because we came as a group of 9. The portions were huge, especially for the sides like mash potatoes and fries. The steaks and pizza were great, but we wished the waiters had told us about the huge portions earlier so that we wouldnt waste food.Generally great food and a comprehensive menu, just be aware of the large portions!

Let me say Ive ordered quite a but before putting this review up. At first the food was very good it was the best pizza Ive tried since I arrived however as of late the food has declined quite a bit Ive so very disappointed Im not sure whats going on but Ive been giving Georges a lot of my business and something needs to change quickly.

Food was good, but Western, not Tanzanian.A lot of western tourist, mostly wealthy, very western atmosphere.Service is great, quick, and again, the food is good.They have WiFi.Quite pricey for Tanzania.

I never leave reviews. But The chef messed up my order. Wasn’t willing to rectify it either and had a bad attitude. But the wait staff was very friendly. zero for the chef. But 5/5 for the wait staff.

Located at Uzunguni area (Haile se lassie road), providing a cool and calm surroundings. Nevertheless,the foods I had the chance to mange are very good so far, especially pizza; service also very good.Not crowdy and calm away from city noises. Good place for family outings.

The meals here are superb and a very helpful and pleasant waiting staff..more of a high end restaurant but the environment and meals make it worth the price..must try the make it yourself salad where you choose your salad ingredients and they come in crispy and fresh, pizza is on point and must have a fresh glass of juice..just refreshing.

We had an amazing dinner at Georges. Everything we ordered was incredibly delicious and the only problem is we could only fit so much. The place is nice and airy and the staff were very kind and welcoming. A great option for vegetarians. I definitely recommend the haloumi and baked feta for starters, and the vegan moussaka.

5 of us dined here, not even one complaint. We all enjoyed the food - I ate the grilled salmon which surprisingly cost nearly as much as the beef steak (a very good thing in this part of the world). They serve very generous portions that come with a salad bowl, after the soup which is all part of the deal. Ordering wine by the half litre carafe, instead of just a glass, is very advisable.Edit: Came back 2 years later, the menu and the prices have changed, there was no soup but the portions are still very generous. Well, except for the salmon but that is in line with expectations...

Stunning food and a wicked cappuccino. If they had a coffee flavoured moose desert I will pitch my tent there.

Thai beef kebab was delicious. Great foam on the cappuccino. Courteous and attentive staff. Its on the expensive side, comparatively, but we had a nice time.

This review is for February of 2017. One of my favorite restaurants in Arusha. Phenomenal pizza! It was a friends birthday in one of our visits and the staff sung her a song and made it memorable. Highly recommend.

Simply the best restaurant in Arusha, whenever my family wants to go out for a nice treat we go to George’s Tavern!The food is of international standards and delicious, the service is outstanding and even the ambiance is just relaxing and makes you want to stay longer!I’ve enjoyed countless dinners here with family and friends, birthdays, goodbyes, graduations all sorts.. it’s a must go place in Arusha!

My favourite place in Arusha! Every item on the menu is a gastronomical delight, leaning towards comfort food with flair. Special kudos to the giant salad, where you choose any ingredients from a giant list: order it, your vitamin deprivation will thank you. Amazing staff too!

We had 2 pizzas and the spinach lasagna. Although they are not the typical pizza and lasagna were used to from the US, the food is quite tasty. The wood oven made for a good crust. The service and ambience was also great.

Never been a fan of Pizza, until the day I visited this place

My wife and I just visited Georges tonight. The setting was very quiet and calm with a canopy of trees and bushes to filter most of the traffic sounds/fumes. The food was great with lots of tasty vegetarian options. Our waiter Evance provided excellent service and was engaging in conversation. I would definitely dine here again!

This was a pleasant experience in town, but relatively secluded and quiet. Clientele is almost exclusively ex-pats. We were a party of 8, 6 adults and 1 child, 1 adolescent there for Sunday lunch.Very eclectic menu with lots of variety. There was something for everyone—seafood, vegetarian, vegan, chicken, red meat. Several varieties of pizza with different sizes. Crust is more like New York thin crust, amount of sauce is less than what we Americans are accustomed to, but still was quite tasty. I ordered stir-fried chickpeas and vegetables which was very good. Portions were large and satisfactory, and I wound up overeating a little because the food was so good.I cannot comment on the Tavern part of the title since no one ordered any alcoholic drinks.There are some swings for small children to play on.The restrooms were clean and in good repair.The only thing I had concerns about was the slowness of arrival of the food. We were greeted as soon as we arrived. The initial attendant was quite quick and obtained our orders readily. Our beverages came quickly, But the food was slow to come even though it was not that complicated.I will definitely return to this restaurant again someday, but not if I am pressed for time.

Good location and ambiance but horrible food and food sizes. Food size and quality not justified by price. Apart from pizzas which my kids enjoyed, the bbq is horrible in all way. Drinks prices are overpriced too. The chef needs to re-think about the menu and sizes. I ordered pork ribs i ended eating something like bacon!

This place was recommended a couple of times... The first time I went I hated the food. I thought maybe it was the dish I ordered. The second time wasnt any better. Maybe its just a personal opinion but I have eaten a lot better tasting food! The place is also quite crowded (being how popular it is!). One of the finest places in Arusha for food. The menu has a good variety of Mediterranean food and is very well done. I also like the pizzas and burgers they do here. George himself is a very kind gentleman, he and his staff are great at hosting. Dont forget to try their awesome desserts!

Its a good location for that Sunday afternoon feel. The staff are friendly and attentive, the vibe is good and the patrons are not too bad, even for a Friday and Saturday. You may occasionally get a couple of rowdy people, but overall its a good place to hang out and have a drink. You can try the food, we tried the Clamari, but unfortunately it was over cooked and the wings seemed to have been pre cooked and drenched with sauce.

A spacious and beautiful terrace and delicious food make Georges Tavern one of the best places to eat in Arusha.This is a cypriot restaurant where the staff is very friendly. We are from Greece and we wanted to meet the owner but unfortunately he wasnt there. However it really surprised us that the waiters spoke very highly of him! Great atmosphere, I would totally recommend this place!

George Tavern is one of the best restaurant in Arusha, the food is good, pleasant place where you can relax and if you have kids they can swing in a safe area. Its open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner, my preferences are for grilled pork and chicken with fresh salad but there are a lot of tasty Greek dishes too.

Such a great to place to enjoy and get heartwarming experience. The meals are great, customer care is great and the prices are well fair. Hope to have much more moments at the place.

Georges Tavern is probably our favourite restaurant in Arusha for serving excellent Greek food. Be sure & bring your appetite along because the portions are very large.

Great place, the crowd is always so diverse and it just reminds me what a beautiful city Arusha is. Its not just another pizza place in town there are plenty of other dishes to choose from. And be sure to try their salad!

The got nice food

I have just ordered pork with barbecue sauce. I was expecting grilled pork with BBQ sauce. Instead, I had burned pork drawn in a sea of sweet oil and full of carbonized onions. That was disgusting!!! They should not do that to people!

The atmosphere is amazing, and nothing has ever tasted better than the pizza here the night of getting off Kilimanjaro! The service was also great.

The food was ok (we tried the pizzas and the schnitzel) however the quantities are quite large and we could not finish. Be aware that there is a 5% additional charge when you pay by card.
