I have volunteered with The White Rose NGO for about 2.5 months (Sept 21 - Dec 8, 2021) and I have to say that I enjoyed every single day of it. Marko, the Director of the NGO, is a person who you can really trust. He was always there for me and he helped me in a few cases when I needed him (eg. visit a local hospital). Conjepta, the mother of my host family, really made me feel at home and she treated me like a real member of her family. When I was sick, she kept checking on me 2-3 times per day to see how I was doing.During my stay in Arusha, I had the chance to work as an English teacher, but also as a construction worker. The White Rose NGO gave me the opportunity to dedicate my time and effort where it was needed the most, so I really felt that my work had a significant impact to the local community, which for me is really important. In addition, we managed to launch a fundraising campaign and managed to renovate the toilets and 2 classrooms at a public primary school and we will carry on with renovating the toilets of other schools.I feel that with the guidance of the White Rose Organisation, I managed to have the biggest impact possible and I am so grateful for that. I could also feel that from the childrens and teachers eyes and smile.I will certainly come back one day. Till then, happy volunteering!
