I’ve been in Arusha 10 months and I suddenly have so many regrets. I had heard of Shanga, but never understood how truly awesome it would be. I basically never buy things and the people and atmosphere and the goods and prices made it so I could not say no. In the future I will be sure to bring friends and family
Was amazed....how our brothers and sisters with disabilities have much to offer given an opportunity.....at shanga they employ people with disabilities in creative workshop and recycling.....
Very humbling place to see the the interesting recycled glass arts and crafts made by the local disabled workers. You dont want to miss this place. Theres a nice coffee shop next door also worth a visit.
Its a great shop that support people living with disabilities.
A variety of activities from fascinating glass blowing to textile making on a loom are the highlights. That its from recycled materials to employ disabled people makes it inspiring. Theres a coffee tour, gift shops, a coffee shop with free wifi and a good restaurant at the location. Spend an afternoon here if you can.
Great place , alot to see and also very calm and welcoming
An absolutely amazing and very inspiring place. Had a really nice tour round the shop and got to see all the people who work here making many beautiful products. A lovely gift shop as well with well priced products. Well worth a stop when in Arusha.
My daughter just got back from Tanzania and brought back beautifully handmade glasses and vases. Great program helping disabled people lead a productive life!
Shanga is a wonderful project, you can visit the production for free, a local guide will walk you around and explain about this project. Coffee at the bar is really tasty. You can buy very nice souvenirs for your friends and loved.
Our Arusha day trip included a stop here. I loved interacting with all of the smiling faces. It was fun to converse using my limited sign language skills. Prices were reasonable and the world would be a better place if all persons lived by their motto. So glad we stopped, put this on your list.
A great place to see how they recycle empty bottles to make useful things like glasses, flower vase and ornaments. All job are done by handicapped people.
This is innovative centre like small factory which uses recycled bottles to make attractive gifts. Disabled people make amazing products here, as career.
I love the work shop it has inspire me in so many way keep it up just want to tell you this is amaizing work
Tour takes a maximum of 20 mins. Very positive and productive atmosphere. Gifts are genuinely wearable and/or unique (from someone who doesn’t usually buy souvenirs).I suggest spending a memorable afternoon at Elewana: lunch, coffee tour and Shanga.
I love that they are doing recycling of glass, and keeping the environment clean one glass at a time. If you have time pass by here and trust me your day would feel even better.
