When we ( self Indian and my partner Lithuanian ) decided to travel to Arusha I searched for a veg restaurant and chanced upon Five ChutneysJagat Bhai and Roshini Ji had created a dinning experience where you enter as a guest and leave as a family memberOur 5 days stay in Arusha the only place we had food was at Five Chutneys even they helped with their famous lunch boxes for our Safari trip. Listening to our special requirements and suggested dishes with the right amount of spicesA cozy place but the experience was memorable not only for the authentic Indian dishes served but also the meetings of fellow guests , we met an elderly couple from South Africa who had been living a nomadic life last 14 years staying in various countries , the famous Russian traveller Vladimir was with his entourage for whom Roshini ji had cooked at short notice.The guests loved the food and the decorations on the wall. Even the local bbq owners were savouring the dishes one evening. Whether your taste buds needs massaging with a glass of mango lassi or your appetite is ready for a sumptuous Gujurati Thali , enjoy every dishes at Five Chutneys. The couple are supported by a courteous staff and service is paced at your requestThey have opened a second branch and wish all success

My absolute favourite dish is Dabeli! I tried it for the first time here and have never looked back! Ive started enjoying vegetarian food specifically because of Five Chutneys. The Chhole Bhaturey are to die for. Other favourites include Aloo Parathas, Cheese Sandwich, Kachori and Gujarati Thali. The owners are a lovely couple, both are amazing chefs.If you live in Arusha and havent visited this place, please check yourself.

Fantastic vegetarian Indian food. I love the dishs that remind me of Bombays street food. But not just North Indian, their sambar is one of the best Ive ever tasted and just love it with a dosa and their coconut chutney is so fresh. I go here as often as possible :)

A cozy Indian street food spot I know all vegetarian/vegan foodies will enjoy.If you love Pani Puri, Bhel Puri, Sev Puri, Samosa, Samosa chaat, Aloo Tikki, Aloo Chaat, Paratha, or Chloe Bhature then this is the spot for you.Five Chutneys offer the Indian street food experience in Africa. I was very impressed by the taste and authenticity of each dish. Having had street food in India, I had high expectations when I ordered. I expected the dishes to be somewhat African influenced since it is in Arusha, however to my surprise the owner and his wife kept every dish true to Indian street food standards. I am a big fan of Samosa Chaat and theirs was delicious. I asked them to leave the yogurt off #ThatsNotVegan and simply added coconut cream instead which was tasty. (Coconut cream sold separately!) The stuffed paratha were a hit and the uttapam had so much flavor.The owner is so accommodating and his wife is an amazing chef. I was even able to buy some black salt and hing from them.The next time you are in Arusha, Tanzania you should definitely stop by Five Chutneys.

Had an excellent Indian vegetarian lunch with friends. The host was friendly, food as authentic and great tasting, fast and excellent service, and the price was right. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for authentic vegetarian Indian home cooking.

I am not very cultured with trying new food. We had friends who wanted to visit this restaurant, so we gave it a try. The food was amazing and the staff was friendly! I would definitely eat here again!

Visiting this restaurant was the best part of my visit in Arusha. I and my friends were looking for vegetarian food for quite a long time and one person suggested us to visit this place. The restaurant is right in the city centre so it was very convenient for us. The food was very delicious and served on time. The owners were lovely people and even gave us a complimentary samosa :) they were very lively and served us with a smile on their face.It is a must visit restaurant if you are looking for vegetarian food.

Good very good restaurant for vegetarian food

Me and my husband are always trying to eat more healthy and when we travel is sometimes hard to find good vegetarian options. Five chutneys is the only vegetarian restaurant in Arusha and has sooo many options! We went there for lunch and the owners were really great, welcoming us and explaining us the food. We tried many Indian street food dishes and recommend: the pani puri, the dabeli and the bhel puri (my favorite) with the mint lassi for drink. We loved that the place is really local and the prices are good. We are coming back!

We ate here tonight and was very happy with the food. We ordered the full Thali and samosas and it was enough food for the 2 of us at a great price! We were concerned about finding vegan food in Arusha while traveling through, so were very happy to have found this restaurant. We explained that we dont eat eggs and dairy and they accommodated wonderfully. The food was a bit on the spicy side for us so maybe specify your spice tolerance if you eat here and that is a concern. Overall I would eat here again and recommend it to others!
