I can not express enough how welcoming and friendly the people are at this hostel. The owner and staff go above and beyond to make your experience a great one. I literally can’t say one bad thing about it. They offer a free breakfast that is delicious! They also can set you up with many day trips to choose from if interested or if you would rather hang out and relax they have a well maintained pool! You truly will feel at home when staying here. I really can’t express it enough!

Extremely clean place!! The staff have been very helpful and friendly from the time we arrived. Enjoyed swimming in the pool and tomorrow planning to check out the spa. Definitely put this place on your list of places to stay in Arusha.

Nyumbani Hostel is really nice place to stay. Its clean, price is very affordable, included good breakfast and dinner. There is washing machine for clothes(extra payment, but still cheap), pool is clean. Staff very helpfull and hostel is safe to stay. There is also two very cute dogs and sunset bar on the top of the building. ❤️ Highly recommend the place, especially for solo travelers!

I had a good time at Nyumbani, especially in connection with the friendliness of the staff and owner here. The rooftop was really great for hanging out, watching a sunset with a glass in your hand, and meeting other people. The ambiance was very personal and familial, they were very supportive in recommending things to do and to help with things I needed.

Best hostel along sakina road.Two store building, quite atmosphere ( very clean toilets,bigger and nicer) good security, also swimming pool available to cool you down on hot days .

The place is beautiful for its price, the lower staff are genuine and nice, the upper staff seem to be nice to you because they have to, but I always felt like I was inconveniencing them.I had just finished hiking Kilimanjaro so had paid to have some clothes washed, not only did they leave my clothes in the wash overnight, having them smell like sweaty feet, but it gets laid out to dry in the common area, and I had some clothes lost/stolen.My other friend travelling with me also had some clothes misplaced, which was found to be put in someone else’s clothes who had left already. All of the staff had opened the rooms and was going through peoples belongings trying to find the clothes, without people there to consent.They also do not accept Credit card and are unmarked from the street - making it hard to find and tuktuk drivers have issues getting there.The wifi is usable but gets especially bad with lots of people staying there.Blackouts happen frequently at the hostel but I’m pretty sure that’s just the location in Arusha.To sum it up, amazing price, amazing place, you just gotta deal with the little things, a lot of little things.

The Hostel is just amazing as a starting point in Arusha. Tizia, Glory and Tini are very helpful and patient in every aspect. I also organized my safari and my Kilimanjaro Trip through the Hostel and the Trips were more than amazing. Hostel is very clean, people are nice and food it also really nice. Thanks a lot

My friend and I had an awesome stay at the Nyumbani Hostel. Uli, the manager, made sure we had everything we needed and had fantastic communication. The hostel is really nice, very modern. Our room was huge. Really enjoyed meeting the other guests at the hostel too. For sure recommend!

Have been staying here a few days and love it. The place is big, and super secure. Staff has been really helpful with setting up excursions without giving off a I work on commission feel. They are honestly just being super helpful. The place is also full of people who are volunteering in the local community. This seems to be set up through the non-profit part of the organization.They also did airport pickup and breakfast and dinner are included. Just a really great experience all around.Oh, and they have a spotless pool. Which is super nice...

5 star hostel! They have a pool! It was perfect to cool off after a hot day. Food is DELICIOUS! Rooms are spacious, comfortable, clean, with ensuite bathrooms! Roof top bar has drinks and fun atmosphere to hang out with fellow travelers. They helped organize all my activities (safari, explore villages, waterfall hike, walk around markets, etc). Def recommend 🙂

As soon as I arrived at Nyumbani Hostel, I was warmly welcomed by all of the roommates and the staff. Everything was explained to me and all of my questions were answered helpfully. I never felt like I was alone with something.I didnt miss anything in the hostel, especially the delicious food that Mama Denis cooks every evening and cuddling with the dogs made my stay more beautiful.When planning my day trips and my safari, I was always supported and advised, which made the organization of my stay a lot easier.

Stayed here as a guest and also booked my safari through them and had a really great experience!Everyone is genuinely lovely, welcoming and super helpful. You can book lots of activities and excursions and they are very knowledgeable.Many people there are volunteers and even though I was only staying for a short time they welcomed me and included me as if I was there to stay. It’s a little further out from the centre, but they’ll help you with public transport or call you taxis/pickies that you would mostly be using anyways.The included dinner is really tasty and served family style. Best way to meet other people and exchange.It would absolutely stay again!

The name Nyumbani (Home) actually says already everything. From the first moment on I felt warmly welcome in a super relaxed and friendly athmosphere. The staff are amazing and always there to help you with everything you may need. Also the area in which the hostel is located, is really perfect. It is close to town, but still in a quiet and nice neighbourhood.

So first of all, we were supposed to stay at Nyumbani hostel with my husband during 2 weeks through our volunteer program.1. The hostel is situated in Mianzini, one of the crowdest and complicated in term of access in Arusha. To reach there, it is complicated and very narrow streets.2. When we arrived, our room was not ready and still dirty from the last person staying in there. They just quickly removed her stuff and put new sheets without even cleaning the room.3. If you want to share your mini- bathroom with 8 people, go for it - the cleaning is an option also there.4. There are dogs EVERYWHERE, they take literally the whole space in the house, sitting on the couches, not very hygienic neither. And also impossible to sleep as the dogs were barking the whole night.5I know it’s a hostel and we have already been to hostel in other countries of the world but this one is really poor - no maintenance, no cleaning....So after this poor experience on the first day, we decided to move to another place with my husband and did not complete the 2 weeks.It is a shame to see that the manager, that is managing from Germany (not even based in Tanzania) is not aware or ready to listen to what is really happening on site. You understand that everything is about business (hostel, safari company, volunteering), people comes after money ! So good luck to keep on having a sustainable business in Tanzania !So sorry but this hostel will never deserve 5 stars, maximum 0,5.

Very nice hostel in Arusha! It’s a bit far from the centre, but in a nice area. The staff is very nice, the hostel is cosy, with everything you may need! They cook dinner for the guests everyday, Tanzanian food which is delicious. Cosy beds, nice living room and they help you with everything you may need.Transfers available to book too.Absolutely recommended!

Just one Word: Perfect! Tizia and Tini are so nice! The Food is so good :) the Service is perfect. They made everything possible! Wether its about Tours, get a tanzanian number, of anything else. They helped us everytime! We are looking foreward to come back :)

Great hostel near the center. The name says it all (nyumbani = home), we felt totally at ease and in good hands, we paid attention to our well-being, the food is absolutely delicious. Very nice hostel and well suited if you are hoping for help. The staff will be happy to help you with any questions and you can also book some nice day trips to multi-day safaris and mountain climbs for a fair price through the hostel. Breakfast and lunch can be prepared in the kitchen yourself, with fruit, eggs, toast, jam and peanut butter available in the morning. In the evening the hostel mamas cook an always delicious meal. The area is pretty safe, but there are two lovely watchdogs and night watchmen for safety. I can only recommend Nyumbani Hostel, whether for just one or two nights or for a longer stay.

If you are going to Arusha for the first time and need all kinds of help, both to get to know the city and to do a safari at a good price, Nyumbani hostel is the best option.The accommodation is quite cozy, with spacious rooms and excellent food.You can also get to know the city and many other activities offered at the hostel.They have a pick-up service at the airport at any time.Delighted with the experience and its owners. We recommend it !!

The hostel is clean, the rooms nice.The team is very friendly and helpful, and partly German speaking. Excursions are also offered. The center of Arusha can be reached on foot in 20 minutes. The area is calm and safe. All in all very recommendable.
